Team Nigeria continued her fine run today in Birmingham with golden girl Odunayo Adekuoroye winning gold.
Adekuoroye, it is recalled lost out in a very bizarre manner at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Making amends here has been what the Ondo state girl looked up to and did everything to ensure there was no slip this time round.
Adekuoroye claimed Gold in the Women’s 57kg Freestyle Wrestling after beating Anshu Malik of India.
The 2018 Commonwealth champion defeated her opponent 6-4 in the final to successfully defend the crown she won in Gold Coast four years ago.
En route to the final, the reigning African champion defeated Canada’s Hannah Taylor in the semis in a swashbuckling 10-0 victory.
Another Nigerian wrestler, Esther Kolawole won a bronze.
Adekuoroye’s victory increases Nigeria’s gold medals so far to six, with more medals still on the offing for the nation.
Team Nigeria is guaranteed four medals in boxing already with the qualification of Ifeanyi Onyekwere, Jacinta Umunnakwe, Elizabeth Oshoba and Cynthia Ogunsemilore for the semifinals of their different weights.
