
United States of America based ex Super Falcons of Nigeria striker, Patience Avre Odeli has made a passionate appeal to stakeholders to give total support to the Delta State Sports Commission headed by Onos Oborevwori.
Avre Odeli said she has been impressed with the leadership style of Onos Oborevwori, adding that Sports in Delta State would continue to blossom with the progressive reforms of the Delta State Sports Commission Chairman and his team.
Avre Odeli who represented Nigeria at the FIFA Women’s World Cup and Olympic Games, beside being a three time Women Africa Cup of Nations winner began by congratulating Oborevwori who was recently honoured at a special ceremony in Paris, France.
“Yeah It’s important I congratulate and appreciate Big Bros Onos. He surely deserve the best Sports Commissioner Award he got in France. He has been hardworking and innovative as Delta State Sports Commission Boss.
“He has not only sustained leadership of Delta State in Nigerian Sports but also created the environment for longer dominance.
“I have confirmed regular salaries and allowances payment to sportsmen and women, including officials. Such regular motivation and provision of adequate facilities have boosted various teams,”said Avre who spoke from Chicago Thursday.
The ex Ufuoma Babes FC of Warri and Princess Jegede Queens FC of Lagos striker commended the Delta State Sports Commission for their massive support for both Warri Wolves FC and Delta Queens FC of Asaba.
” I thoroughly enjoy the strides of Warri Wolves and Delta Queens under the Commission. The results have been impressive hence our dear Governor ,Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori gave four buses to the two elite clubs. Warri Wolves are doing well in the Nigeria Premier League and I expect Delta Queens to do well in the next Women Football league season.
“Big thanks to Governor Oborevwori and Delta State Sports Commission. My appeal to sports loving Deltans at home and in the Diaspora is that more moral and financial support should be provided athletes and officials. I’m strongly convinced that better days for Delta in Sports would come with the present professionalism,” Avre concluded after stressing the need for training and retraining of Coaches.
