Badminton Federation gets Adeoye’s praise

Chairman, Badminton section Ikoyi Club ,Thomas Adeoye has commended the Francis orbih led board of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria for the giant strides recorded in the sport in the country even as he charged the board to pay more attention to grassroots development of the game.
Thomas Adeoye said Badminton used to be an unknown sport before now but gradually and steadily the sport is gaining grounds in the land
He said with regular competitions at the grassroots badminton will soon rival football and basketball which are popular sports in this part of the world
Understanding the importance of sports at the grassroots the section will be concluding a 3 weeks clinic for kids on Saturday August 26th, 2023.
The annual clinic is basically to introduce children to the basics of the sport
“This is part of efforts by the Badminton section of Ikoyi club to aid the growth of the game at the grassroots with our world class facility which is accessible by Nigerian top stars for preparations ahead of major tournaments
“We have been working in taderm with both the state’s association and Federation to raising worthy ambassadors for the country”, he said
Thomas Adeoye deoye said plans are on by the new executives to remodel the Badminton courts to international standards
“We always aim to meet up with the current standard of the sport in areas of facilities, and trainings so as to measure up with world standards, ”
The section has hosted series of local and international tournaments and will continue to do so”, he concluded.
