Basketball: Nigeria’s U-16 3X3 Champions expected back in the country today
The victorious National U-16 3×3 Basketball team to Senegal’s Festival of the Games will arrive in Lagos today.
The Champions are made up of Umeh Blessing Amarachi, Okechukwu Favour, Anari Favour and Angel Michael as well as a Coach.
According too a statement by the NOC signed by it’s Public Relations Officer Tony Nezieanya, the team which was accompanied by a Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Coordinator, Kemi Obidaunsi; will arrive at the Muritala Mohammed international Airport, Lagos.
He further explained that the organisers used the Friendship tournament to test their readiness to hosting 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
The countries that attended are:
Nigeria, Kenya,Algeria,The Gambia and hosts, Senegal
At the tournament the highly motivated Nigerian side recorded the following results:
Senegal-14 Nigeria 13
Gambia -13 Nigeria 21
Algeria-9 – Nigeria – 29
Nigeria eventually defeated Senegal in the finals on Nov. 9. Nigeria-9 – Senegal- 8.
The NOC bankrolled the National U-16 3X3 expenses to the tournament, ensuring that our talented athletes could focus on the event.
