SPORTS MINISTER MOURNS GENERAL ONEYA

Minister  of Youth and sports Development Mr. Sunday Dare has expressed deep shock over the demise  of Fomer Chairman  of the Nigerian Football Association  Military Administrator Brigadier-General Dominic Oneya,  (Rtd), declaring that Nigeria had lost a gallant soldier and  great administrator.

“Nigeria has lost an illustrious son, dedidicated administrator and gallant soldier, officer gentleman whose contributions  to national and sports development can never be forgotten. He laid a solid Foundation for Nigerian football. His death has robbed Nigeria the service of a very experienced,patriotic, dedicated and loyal personality .His death is so unfortunate, but we cannot question God. He has done his best in the service  of the nation. May God rest  his soul” the statement said
. The Minister  further  stated “My  condolences goes to his family, the Government and people of Delta State, the Nigerian Army and the football community. My deep thoughts are with his family. He would be sourly missed”
The former  Benue and Kano state Military Administrator passed away  on Thursday August 4th at the age of  73.
Oneya had served as Military  Administrator under late Head of State General Sani Abacha.
He was Chairman of the Nigerian football Association from 2000- 2002.
