Bayelsa State House of Assembly Confirms Peter Akpe As Deputy Governor

The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has confirmed the nomination of Dr. Peter Pereotubo Akpe, as new Deputy Governor of the state.

Akpe, a Pastor served as Chief of Staff to Governor Douye Diri prior to his nomination by the governor.

Ordained a Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, he has held a career spanning civil service and politics.

He served in the Rivers and Bayelsa States Civil Service before going into politics.

Akpe who was a two- term member of the Bayelsa State. House of Assembly from 2011-2019, serving as majority leader throughout his stay in the house.

He also served as Commissioner between 2008 and 2011 under the tenure of Seriki Dickson.

Akpe’s appointment followed the death of the former Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo’s last December.
