Pro -Wrestling will soon be inaugurated in Benin Republic -Olukoya

Secretary General of Pro-Wrestling Africa ( PWA), a body established to turn Africa into the Mecca of Wrestling, Olusesan Olukoya has announced that the body will soon inaugurate professional wrestling in Benin Republic.
According to him, after the successful inauguration of the game in Togo in November last year which was followed by a three day training programme held from 1st-3rd March, 2024 in conjunction with the Golden Wrestling Federacy, (GWF), Florida, USA, the train will now move to Benin Republic where they’re enthusiastic to have the sports introduced.
” I’m happy to announce that after the successful inauguration of the game in Togo, we’re now moving to Benin Republic which will happen very soon as they’re eagerly awaiting for the sports to have a foothold in the country.

” It’s equally a thing of joy that our partnership with Golden Wrestling Federacy, an organisation set up by a great wrestler, Golden Boy Jim McDowell, a dentist by profession with the aim of promoting professional wrestling in the United States is now helping to spread wrestling gospel in the African continent”, he stated.

Olukoya noted that he’s happy that with the support of Golden Wrestling Federacy, that professional wrestling is gradually gaining more attention in the West African nations likewise the other regions of the African continent; saying that there’ll be no going back on the project.

“We at the Pro Wrestling Africa (PWA) are excited that professional wrestling will soon be inaugurated in Benin Republic a close door neighbour of Nigeria that have been showcasing professional wrestling internationally since the late 60s In Africa, while Benin Republic has no semblance of the sport and we think it’s not too good

” Currently the four African countries involved in big time professional wrestling are Nigeria, Cameroon, South Africa and Congo Democratic Republic while others like Togo, Zimbabwe, Angola, Botswana and others are gradually coming up.

“Our target of having wrestling in most of the countries in the second largest continent in the world after Asia is being achieved and kudos must go to Golden Wrestling Federacy for their support.
” You will recall that Golden Boy was in Yaounde Cameroon for a week last year July when he participated in a world pro-wrestling championship as the first American talent to be featured in a wrestling event in Cameroon after which where he held a seminar for the Cameroonian Pro -Wrestling stakeholders.

“He will be leading Chris Nelms, the Georgia Championship Wrestling heavyweight title holder from Atlanta, USA to Yaounde, Cameroon where he’ll compete with Buffalo, the African Super Heavyweight Champion in May, 2025.
” This is a welcome development that will help promote professional wrestling and tourism in Africa and around the world.

“Golden Boy has also vowed that he will contribute his quota towards promoting professional wrestling in Benin Republic and the government of Benin Republic has a major role to play as he meant it.

“All we can do is to see to the inauguration of professional wrestling among the other African nations which is gradually happening now’’ explained Olukoya.
He concluded by saying that setting up “Association Béninoise De Lutte Professionnelle” is a task that must be done, declaring that there’s no going back.

Benin Republic is a French Speaking West African nation of 13 million people with about 42 ethnic groups.

The largest groups are the Fon, the Yoruba, and the Adjara. Most Beninese are Christians or follow traditional beliefs, including voodoo. While about 20 percent of the people are Muslims.

The West African country of Benin is divided into twelve different states, which are officially called “Departments” in the Beninese system of government. The twelve Departments are: Alibori, Atakora, Atlantique, Borgou, Collines, Kouffo, Donga, Littoral, Mono, Oueme, Plateau, and Zou.
