Benin Chiefs honour Elegbeleye
NPFL Chairman Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye had another feather added to his cap today, Sunday, March,3, 2024 when he was honoured by Benin Chiefs.
The event which took place during the NPFL U-17 Youth championship saw the chiefs extolling his leadership qualities which has turned around the fortune of Nigeria’s football league
According to the Chiefs, Elegbeleye since he took over the mantle of leadership of NPFL has brought credibility to the league and gone ahead to ensure that football is further developed at the grassroots through the U-17 championship.
“We decided to honour you because of what your board has achieved within a short time. Now more Nigerian matches are televised life on television and the incidence of inducing match officials reduced to the barest minimum because your leadership ensured that referees indemnities are paid on time and we want you to keep it up”, the chiefs said.
While presenting a plague to him, they charged him not to relent in his efforts at ensuring that Nigerian league compete with the rest of the world just as they pledged their continuous support to him
Receiving the plague, Elegbeleye thanked them for finding him worthy to be honoured, pledging that he will continue to do his best in improving the country’s league.
