Boxing enthusiast takes over Tizimi Boxing Club for N75 million
Businessman and boxing enthusiast Olarinwaju Michael George, has emerged the new owner of one of Nigeria’s most decorated boxing outfit Tizimi boxing club.
Michael sealed a deal for the takeover of Tizimi on Saturday after weeks of bidding with other interested candidates.
The Chairman /CEO of Bintoo Hotel Limited paid N75 million for the complete takeover of the boxing outfit. Olarinwaju said he has resolved to invest in the growth and development of boxing in Nigeria hence his decision to own a boxing club.
” The amount i paid for Tizimi should speak of my commitment to go all the way in this project, I am very passionate about helping young people achieve their goals in life, and boxing is one of the ways I believe we can support those who are interested in sports”
” We have just completed step one which is the takeover of the boxing outfit, in the coming weeks I and my team will unveil plans on running the boxing club more adequately and professionally”.
The hospitality industry mogul further stated he hopes to collaborate with other key players in the Nigerian boxing fraternity to develop the sports from the amateur level.
” I have closely followed what the likes of Mr. Omonlei Imadu, is doing with Yucateco Boxing promotions and I must confess it’s a template we can all learn from. It’s a new dawn for boxing in Nigeria and I am super excited to be a part of the very positive revolution”, he concluded.
