Boxing: My best yet to come, says Ayisat

Rising Nigerian female boxer, Ayisat Oriyomi says her best is yet to come in the paid ranks noting that she will not be satisfied until she wins a world title.
The boxer who won her second professional fight since joining the paid ranks on Sunday, July 30 at the Brai Ayonote Boxing Gym of the National Stadium Surulere Lagos by recording a unanimous decision against Christiana James in their National female flyweight challenge contest explained that her plan is to stay focused and take every fight as they come positing that she’s ready to face any opponent in her weight category.
” I’m happy winning this fight because my opponent really gave me a tough time. Actually, I wanted to go for a knockout but when it seems that was not forthcoming, I decided to be picking my points and that did the magic”, she explained.
” This victory has given me the confidence required to move on to greater heights in my chosen career and I must say a very big thank you to the NBB of C and the promoter for given me opportunity to climb the ropes today and I promise not to disappoint them and my country.
She was also full of praises to her coaches for not only seeing the talent in her but believing in her even as she promised not to rest on her oars untill she wins a continental and world title.
” Kudos must go to my coaches for believing in me and taking me through the rudiments of boxing which has helped me a lot since joining the paid ranks and like every boxer who wants to make a name in the sports, my ultimate ambition is to win a world title for the country and I believe it’s achievable”, she sounded confidently.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of Nigeria Boxing Board of Control ( NBB of C) Remi Aboderin says the body will continue to support Nigerian boxers in their quest to become world champions.
According to him, the various fights being sanctioned by the body is to enable the country’s boxers garner more experience and be ranked by the various world bodies.
” We at the NBB of C are working round the clock to ensure that more promoters come into the game and am happy that many of them are already on the same age with us.
” As you’re aware, we have sanctioned many fights this year all geared towards giving our boxers opportunity to be ranked by the various world bodies and we’re still looking forward to sanctioning more fights before the end of the year”, he stressed.
