The leadership of the Boxing Promoters Association of Nigeria (BPAN) has lauded the management of YouFitBox Boxing Promotion as the producer of the newly designed National Title Belt.
In an interview with the sporting press in Lagos yesterday, BPAN spokesperson Edna Aiyegbeni revealed that all preparations are underway for the YoufitBox and the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBBOFC) to unveil the newly designed championship boxing belt for the super featherweight category at an event set for February 9th 2025.
“Given this accomplishment, I respectfully ask that YouFitBox be officially acknowledged by the board as the official producer of the current championship belt,” Madam Edna, who also serves as the proprietor of the Francis Aiyegbeni Boxing Club in Ibadan, stated, adding that such recognition would not only be a personal honor for YoufitBox but would also set an encouraging example for other members to make significant contributions to the development of boxing in Nigeria.
Speaking in the same vein, the former flyweight national champion Akeem Akinade, the founder of YouFitBox Boxing Promotions who designed the belt, said boxers will compete for the belt during his upcoming boxing show tagged “The New National Title Belt Reborn” slated for 16th of February at the Shalom Pack event center in Lagos.
He, however, expressed his appreciation to the leadership of BPAN and the NBB of C for granting him the opportunity and authorization to design the new championship belt, saying without the trust and support of the association, the project would not have been possible.
“I am deeply committed to supporting the association’s vision and goals, and I see this recognition as a step toward strengthening and advancing the boxing sport in Lagos, Nigeria, and beyond,” he noted.
YoufitBox added that “the initiative to produce a new belt stemmed from the realization that the previous belt was long overdue for replacement. Over time, the old belt had lost its appeal and no longer reflected the dynamic and professional image of the association.”
“I strongly felt that a new, modern, and presentable championship belt was essential to uphold the dignity of our organization and to inspire athletes who strive to earn this symbol of excellence.
The newly designed belt now represents the association’s rich heritage and its bright future.”
