CAF CL zonal qualifiers : Odeh, Sodje want Delta Queens to recruit more players

By Ifeanyi Eduzor

Following the emergence of Delta Queens as the overall winner of the 2022/2023 Women Football Premier League, former Super Falcons Coach, Rowlandson Odeh and one time Super Eagles’ defender Sam Sodje have called on the team to recruit more experienced players ahead of the WAFU zonal Group  B football tournament.

Delta Queens in the final match of Women Super 6, defeated defending champions,  Bayelsa Queens by 2-1 to emerge champions of the league but Odey and Sodje believes that the WAFU tournament which serves as qualifiers for the Women CAF Champions League is a more difficult game and as such they need to fortify the team ahead of the competition.

” We’re happy for Delta Queens emerging new champions of the league and we congratulate them for that victory but we must warn that as they prepare for the CAF Champions League qualifiers, there is need for the team to be fortified because the WAFU B competition is entirely another ball game.

“The Delta State Government must do the needful and help the team not only qualify for the CAF Champions League but do well in the tournament and we want the Delta State Government,  Sheriff Oborevwori as a sports loving governor to show special interest in the team and make it the best in the country”, they said.
