The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Monday condemned the unpleasant scenes and promises sanctions on erring teams and individuals after dramatic scenes in the final match of the 2025 Africa Cups of Nations between winner Senegal and hosts Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium, Rabat on Sunday.
The final match took a dramatic dimension when Centre Referee Jean-Jacques Ndala awarded a penalty to Morocco after a review by the Video Assistant Review (VAR) in the final minutes of regulation time.
The Senegalese then withdrew from the field and headed down the tunnel but were later appealed to by Sado Mane before they returned for a delayed restart.
Talisman Brahim Diaz who was fouled would missed the penalty.
Senegal would win the title as Pape Gueye scored the only goal of the match in extra-time.
In a statement, body said it “condemns the unacceptable behaviour of some players and officials during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Final between Morocco and Senegal in Rabat last night.
“CAF strongly condemns any inappropriate behaviour which occurs during matches, especially those targeting the refereeing team or match organizers.
“CAF is reviewing all footage and will refer the matter to competent bodies for appropriate action to be taken against those found guilty.”
