Seyi Olowu ( Chicago of Shomolu), the People’s Democratic Party candidate for Shomolu Federal Constituency,  it is aimed at keeping youths of Shomolu, Bariga, Onipanu, Anthony, Fadeyi and neighbouring communities busy and off crime.

Speaking while performing the kick off, Hon. Olowu admonished the players to conduct themselves well throughout the duration of the tournament noting that some of them can go ahead to represent the country at international championships.

“I’m organising this competition in order to give hope to youths of Shomolu and keep them off crime. My appeal is that they should keep to the rules of the game as scouts would be around and some of them could be lucky to be invited to one of the national teams or any of the top teams in the country.

According to him the championship is his little way of impacting positively on the youths, pledging to make it an annual competition.

A total of 13 teams namely; Young Talents, Toriola, Unique, Sly, HOP, Morning Stars, Orio, Legends, Akoka FC, Evergreen, Cyon and All Stars  are participating in the tournament which will be decided on knockout basis.

Winners of the competition will go home with the sum of N750,00 while the first and second runners up will get N125,000 and N75,000 respectively.
