By Everest Ezihe, Owerri
The death of Mrs. Chioma Njoku has been described as a bomb shell and national disaster by Hon. Longers Anyanwu (Ebube Dike Obowo)
Recall Njoku who’s the founder and publisher of The Onion Newspapers and the wife of High Chief Bright Chimezie Njoku, the founder and publisher of Nigeria Horn Newspapers died last Thursday at Federal University Teaching Hospital, Owerri after a brief illness.
Anyanwu who’s an astute politician and a business icon said, ” honestly it’s the most heart breaking news, I have ever had in recent time, I couldn’t believe it. It’s was like a bomb shell. I know how close Bright Chimezie Njoku is with Chioma his wife.
“They are not only like husband and wife, they are like twin partners. Always sharing things together. Most of their decisions are jointly done. I feel so bad and devastated.
” The truth is that, Imo State and Nigeria at large will miss such an extra ordinary media entrepreneur. She was a trail blazer, a beacon of inspiration to other people and a workaholic. A strategic investor and aggressive news hunter.
“You will appreciate her creativity, even from the name she gave her newspaper, The Onion Newspapers. Giving it a total and complete feminine feeling, touch and effect. Totally complimenting and competing with other local and national tabloids.
“I have lost a very good family friend, a sister and a doyen in Journalism profession. She and her husband have bestrides the media industry in the South East, Nigeria like collosus. Representing all shares of opinions without biased interest. She’s indeed going to be missed, I don’t know how my brother Bright is going to cope by moving forward.
“It’s my fervent prayers that God will give him strength and the grace to move ahead with his children. Am pleased that he’s a Christian. Honestly, it’s so sad. When she told me a day before her death, that she just came out of ICU, I taught she was going to pull through.
“Am speechless, I can imagine what may be going through the mind of her husband. A man that have toiled and worked together for years with a divinely arranged complimentary wife, actually it’s not got to be easy men ! Certainly, those of us that are his brothers and friends should always put him in prayers. There’s nothing God can not do.
“Barely, two months ago, I buried my senior brother, there’s nothing, Bright did not do to assist me. I don’t take those things and our friendship for granted. I urge Imo people and Nigerians at large, to console him and pray to God to give him the fortitude to bear the irreparable lost. It’s only God that knows the best.
“Meanwhile, to the entire management and staff of Onion Newspapers, let them pick up the piece, and in the memory of the founder and publisher, who was an Amazon, they should always remember to do their best and never forget all the sacrifices their publisher have made to keep the flag flying.
“They should not easily forget the vision and mission of the publisher over the newspapers. The dream and the legacy must not die” he passionately advised.
