Cleric thumbs up Chioma CB Charity Foundation for giving succour to humanity

Rev. Fr Kingsley Ejimadu of St Patrick Catholic Church Idem Ogwa in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State has extolled Mr. Edward Ekeanyanwu for dolling out a whooping sum of N10m through his Chioma CB Charity Foundation to be distributed among less privileged persons in Idem Ogwa community and payment of 2026 electricity bills for four churches within and outside the environ.

Father Ejimadu said this last Sunday in his sermon at the Parish church auditorium during a well attended thanksgiving service organized to honour God by Mr. Edward Ekeanyanwu and family, as well as Chioma CB Charity Foundation.

He extolled the philanthropic gestures of the non governmental organization financier noting that his persistent compassion in serving God and humanity using his wealth, is one of the strategic means of attracting God’s abundant blessings and deserves serious emulation by all and sundry.

Father Ejimadu further advised the beneficiaries of the need to make maximum use of the seed money which he said is in possession of the parish leadership and would be distributed to them in earnest, and in accordance with the directives of the Foundation.

The Cleric further reiterated the need for the church to monitor the beneficiaries so as to ensure effective usage of the fund in improvement of their businesses and skills, assuring them of an improved funding from the Foundation within the year, if they maximize the initial fund efficiently and effectively.

Father Ejimadu also passionately appealed to other well to do members of the society to emulate the philanthropic gestures of Mr. Edward Ekeanyanwu using Chioma CB Charity Foundation as a succour to less privileged persons in the society.

The philanthropist who’s also the CEO of CB Electronics, with franchises of Hisense, Funai and IG electronic products at No 6 Douglas Road, Owerri recalled that the foundation was inaugurated in 2024 and N10m was equally distributed as an empowerment to churches, widows, widowers, people living with disabilities and less privileged persons for entrepreneurship and skills acquisition.

According to him, “the motivation is built as act of thanks giving to God for lifting me from grass to grace, from nobody to somebody. I came out of University, without any clear cut vision of what to do, there was no job nor prospect of getting any.

“I started struggling on my own, hawking clothes on the streets of Owerri, electronics and other things, it’s only God that changed my story, today, am one of the top dealers of electronics in South East Nigeria. I will remain ever grateful to Him.

“This year 2025, we are bringing again a minimum of N10m as one of our ways of thanking and appreciating God’s immense grace in our businesses and other activities, to reciprocate we are determined to positively touch lives, no matter how small.The money will be used for propagation of Christianity, empowerment of youths, assistance to indigent students, widows and widowers.

“It’s my candid directive, that the money will be distributed thus; N1m to St Patrick Catholic Church, Idem Ogwa my ancestral home church, excluding the payment of their electricity bill for the entire 2026.

“Recall that the church equally got N1m cash last year from the Foundation, N1m cash goes to St John The Beloved Catholic Chaplaincy, Irete in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State. Similarly, St Mark’s Anglican Church, Idem Ogwa, the foundation through the money will pay off their 2026 electricity bill.

“Subsequently, the 6 kindreds in Okwaraji Idem Ogwa Village in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State will each benefit N1m to be shared among the widows, widowers, youths and poorest of the poor” he stated.

Ekeanyanwu passionately advised people on the need to have uttermost faith in God and to jettison idleness and laziness, even as he urged them to be focused with vision, noting that God rewards hardwork and dedication, using himself as a point of reference.

He expressed profound gratitude to the leadership of Owerri Catholic Archdiocese for their solidarity and input geared towards achieving the aims and objectives of the Foundation.

The philanthropist further thanked Chief Jawachi Onyechege Uwandu, Sir Chinaka Ekeanyanwu as the Head of his family for his patriotic commitments towards establishment of the Foundation, Prince Obioha Morgan Uwandu and the leadership of Okwaraji Village for their tremendous encouragement and support.

Also speaking, Comrade George Udeji-Onumajuru, the general Chairman Umuokwaraji Family Meeting, Idem Ogwa said that since the commencement of the empowerment programme by their illustrious son, Mr. C.B.N Ekeanyanwu last year, many of the people have benefitted and to God be the glory, he has improved the empowerment largesse for this year and many more people have been included as beneficiaries from the 6 family blocs that constitute Okwaraji ancient village.

He also pointed out that the Foundation has tremendously helped in allievating poverty in the area and prayed for God’s abundant blessings upon the financier, his family and generations.

Udeji-Onumajuru further observed that the empowerment programme has equally reduced anti-social vices in the area saying that some youths in the community has engaged in various economic activities based on grants they got from the Foundation, boosting that the number of idle youths in the area have equally been reduced drastically.

He assured that the community leaders have been vanguards in sensitizing the youths on the need to be responsible as well as monitoring the beneficiaries for proper usage of the seed funds in beefing up their skills and businesses as the only way of encouraging the financier to do more.

He expressed disenchantment that there are lots of privileged persons in their community who are selfish in helping humanity, he passionately advised them to emulate Mr. Edward Ekeanyanwu’s endermic philanthropic gestures so as to uplift the community and the society at large.

Adding his voice, Mr. Emmanuel Akaeme, the Parish Council Chairman of St Patrick Catholic Church Idem Ogwa, extolled Mr. CBN Ekeanyanwu and family for their labour of love to most less privileged persons of the parish, the parish as an institution and even beyond through their Chioma CB Charity Foundation.

Akaeme pleaded to the financier to further extend the Foundation’s generosity to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oboro Umumaro Ogwa even though the Foundation accommodated the parish in the payment of their 2026 electricity bills.

He thanked the financier for his special compassion towards the less privileged, poorest of the poor and people living with disabilities and most especially the annual payment of the electricity bills of three churches in Ogwa and that of his resident Parish church in Owerri, describing that as no mean feat.

The Parish Council Chairman also prayed for God’s abundant blessings upon the financier and his family, asking him not to relent in serving God and humanity using his wealth.
