COAS Shooters, Safety Continue Winning Streak On Day 10 of Ardova Handball Premier League 2025 Phase 1
COAS Shooters put up a strong defensive display to outgun Niger United 24–21 in the headline match of Day 10 at the Ardova Handball Premier League 2025 Phase 1 in Benin City, Edo State.
After taking a commanding 18–10 lead at halftime, the Nigeria Army side had to dig deep to hold off a spirited second-half surge from Niger United. The 9 goals scored by Adeshola Adelakun, was pivotal as COAS Shooters made sure they got their win.
In another closely-fought encounter, De Defenders narrowly edged Benue Buffaloes 22–20 after leading 11–08 at halftime. It could have been more but Benue Buffaloes goalkeeper Amos Iorngohol made 12 important saves to make the result respectable.
Correction Boys and Adamawa Warriors played out a thrilling 29–29 draw, with the Nigeria Prisons team rallying from a 4-goal deficit at the break (14–18) to share the spoils as Adamawa Warriors goalkeeper David Moses made 14 saves while Safety Shooters made light work of Osun United, cruising to a 28–17 win.
The highly anticipated clash between Rima Strikers and Tojemarine Academy ended all square at 21–21 with Rima clawing back from a 4-goal halftime deficit (09–13) to earn a point.
In the women’s category, Imo Grasshoppers bounced back to winning ways with a commanding 26–16 victory over Plateau Peacocks. Imo Grasshoppers led 14–09 at halftime and with the good form of goalkeeper Nkemelu Chinonye who made 15 saves, the Owerri based team, cruised to victory against the 2018 champion Peacocks.
Safety Babes extended their unbeaten run with a convincing 37–26 triumph over Defender Babes. After a slim 17–15 halftime lead, the defending champion turned on the style in the second period to pull away comfortably. They haven’t lost any matches since the 2022 season.
