COEASU thumbs up IMSG over educational developments

Overwhelmed by the extent of educational developments and transformations, since the inception of the Shared Prosperity and 3R administrative mantra of Governor Hope Uzodimma led Government of Imo State , the members of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, COEASU of Imo State College of Education, ( IMSCED) Ihitte Uboma chapter has thumbed up Imo State Government, IMSG for their unflinching commitments in educational upliftment in the State.

The COEASU Chapter Chairman of the College, Comrade Wilson Amandianaeze Samuel disclosed this while interacting with news men on Thursday, concerning the activities of the professional Union and her efforts to replicate Governor Uzodimma’s educational mission and vision so as to further move the College forward.

The Union Leader expressed profound gratitude to Uzodimma for ensuring that his infrastructural giant stride achievements were extended to the Institution, especially during the recent visit of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) for accreditation of the College’s programmes for National Certificate of Education, NCE.

He observed that, since the inception of the College in 2017 that the NCCE team visit was her maiden academic accreditation exercise programmes, aimed at boasting the morale of all the stakeholders and proudly graduating the students proficiently and professionally.

Amandianaeze further applauded the State Government for their patriotic desires in repositioning the College into a world class Institution and described such achievements, as milestones in the annals of the Institution and State at large.

According to him ” history and posterity will always honour, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma for working assiduously in ensuring that Imo State College of Education, Ihitte Uboma is one of the best among her contemporaries”.

The Union leader also lauded the Governor for sustenance of peace and harmonious relationship between them, the management and other critical stakeholders of the Institution and assured not to relent.

The chairman of the College Academic Staff Union further expressed gratitude to the State Government for prompt and regular payment of their salaries, noting also that the staff of the College were beneficiaries of the Governor’s philantropic magnanimity, which includes but not limited to Promotions, Christmas largesse, first and 2nd palliatives.

Amandianaeze passionately appealed to the Governor on the absolute need to look inwards towards the, “Domestication of Colleges of Education, Act 2023” as signed by President Ahmed Tinubu on 12th June, 2023.

This new act establishing Colleges of Education in Nigeria he assured, “if domesticated in the State, it will enable the Institution to join other Colleges of Education in Nigeria to run Degree Programmes on her own without affiliation to any University.

The Chairman once again thanked Governor Uzodimma for his immense support and achievements in the College so far and urged him no to relent, insisting that for now, the Institution is the only College of Education owned by Imo State Government which will soon run on dual mode capacity; of awarding both NCE and Degree programmes without affiliation to any university.
