Collaboration, key to checking building collapse- Zobis Cable boss

The Managing Director/ Chief Operating Officer of Zobis Electrical Nigeria Limited , makers of high quality electrical cables, Alozie Louis Thaddeus has advocated collaboration between the various professionals involved in building construction inorder to check the high level.of building collapse in the country.

He made the remarks Monday, March, 9, 2026 at the press conference organized by the Nigerian Institute of Building to herald this year’s Builders’ week.

Speaking on the theme of this year’s celebration, tagged, ‘Advocacy and Policy Influence Towards Sustainable Reforms For A Resilient Built Environment’, he described the topic as very interesting, noting that there’s need for all the value chain involved in building construction to collaborate inorder to have unique buildings in Nigeria that will not only safe lives but restore hope to the common man.
” The issue of building collapse in Nigeria has been a serious problem and that’s why this topic by the builders association is very interesting.

“There’s need for all the organized professional bodies involved in building such as draughts men, surveyors, architects, civil engineers, electrical engineers and others to work in synergy for us to have decent buildings that will stand the text of time.

“Once this synergy is established, the issue of quackery and use of sub- standard materials to cut cost will be reduced to the barest minimum.

According to Alozie whose company has been in business for the past 15 years and is rated amongst the top five cable producing companies in the country, there’s also need for government to come up with a
sustainable policies and advocacy programmes to ensure that there’s protection of life and property in the country.

” I believe that one other thing government should do is to have a sustainable policy, strong law and advocacy to protect the lives and property of Nigerians. Once we have a strong law where culprits are severely punished, people will start to do the right thing

Speaking on what has made his company a top player in cable business in the country, he explained that they use copper to produce their cables and source all their raw materials locally which is one of the things the government is preaching.

” What has given us edge over others is that our cables are made up of copper and we source our raw materials locally which is in line with the Federal Government’s local content policy.

” Our plan is that by 2030, we hope to be the top two cable manufacturing company in Africa because we’re working on innovation, service, technology, quality and manufacturing or producing a cable that will stand the text of time”, he concluded.
