Crisis brews in Super Eagles Supporters Club, as Delta State Chapter rejects election, passes vote of no confidence on Okumagba

The Super Eagles Supporters Club is heading for further fractionalization following a vote of no confidence passed by the Delta State Chapter on the National Chairman, Prince Vincent Okumagba and his entire executive.

This is coming on the heel of the just concluded election of the chapter in which some aggrieved members accused Okumagba of manipulating the process

Addressing journalists on Thursday at the Edjeba premises of Delta State Broadcasting Service, Warri, the interim secretary of the chapter, Chief Lawrence Akpoverso expressed regrets that the electoral committee chairman was never allowed to do his job rather, the election was hijacked by the National Chairman and his executive.

Akpoverso wondered why the national chairman allowed persons who were admitted only two weeks prior to the election to vote while disfranchising many genuine members of the club.

” We the majority members of the Super Eagles Supporters Club, Warri, Delta State Chapter want to tell the whole nation that we reject the last election because due process was not followed.

” It’s quite unfortunate that the whole election was hijacked by the national body with the list of voters coming out two days to the election which is not in line with the constitution of the club.

” To make matters worse, the National Chairman whose constituency is Warri and by extension Delta State chose to play to the gallery and his action shows that he cannot handle the position given to him by the National Sports Commission to unite the various Supporters Club “, he stressed.

The aggrieved members accused the outgoing executive of failing to present the financial position of their stewardship for the six years they were on office only for them to produce a disjointed account a day to the election just as they expressed surprise that the national body was still supporting them not minding the anomaly.

They explained that since the national body cannot resolve the crisis, they have no option than to pass a vote of no confidence on the Okumagba led executive and henceforth will cease relating with them even as they promised to announce their next line of action very soon.

They however, called on major stakeholders of the club to intervene and resolve the crisis
It would be recalled that the chapter on August 9, held an election to usher in new executives that will pilot itt affairs for the next four years.
In that election Amb. Dibi Yinkore JP was re-elected chairman with Dr Fredrick Adu as the Vice chairman.

Other elected executives are; Mr Dere Jarikpe, Secretary, Reuben Esabunor, Asst. Secretary and Comrade Henry Efetobor as the Publicity secretary.

Also elected are; Engr. Collins Okorodudu as Financial Secretary, Lawrence Eruteya-Treasurer and Daniel Eze, Chief Whip
