DAVIS CUP: Nigeria beat Uzbekistan 3-1, move into World Group 11

Nigeria on Sunday defeated Uzbekistan 3-1 to move into group 11 of the Davis Cup World Tennis tournament.
Though it wasn’t an easy task for team Nigeria considering the fact that the Uzbekistan players are far above Nigerian counter parts when it comes to the International Tennis Federation (ITF ) ranking, but Nigeria players decided to prove book makers wrong by surpassing all odds.
With Nigeria top seed and tournentor-in-Chief, Daniel Adeleye, being at his best form ever, The visitors had no place to hide.

Playing at the Lord and Runmen’s center court of the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club 1895, Adeleye set the victory song rolling by beating Uzbekistan’s hit man, Abdulaziz Usmonjonov in the first game on Saturday and completed the job with another sweet victory in the reversed singles against Ilya Ignatov on Sunday which ended 2-0 ( 6,3, 6,4) in Nigeria’s favour.
But not before the doubles contest where Nigeria’s pair of Canis Abua and Michael Emmanuel Ub stopped Denis Istomin and Khumoyun Suloanov.

Meanwhile, President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation { NTF} Hon. Victor Ochei, Chairman of the Central working Committee, Victor Hember, President of the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club , Dr Adeyinka have all commended the Nigerian team for making the country proud.
