Deacon Louis Clark installed Patron of South West Police Community Relations Committee

Thursday , 25th April, 2024 will be an unforgettable day for members of South West Police Community Relations Committee ( PCRC) as they rolled out the drums on that day to not only celebrate 40 years of it’s existence but to also honour some deserving Nigerians amongst whom is a philanthropist per excellence, Deacon Louis Clark who was made a patron of the association.

The well attended event with the Theme ‘ Community Policing at it’s Best’ attracted the top echelon of Lagos State Police Command ably led by the State Commissioner of Police Adegoke Fayoade and a representative of Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Olatoye Durosimi and many prominent Nigerians who gathered at the Police Officers Wives Association Multipurpose Hall, Oduduwa, Crescent, GRA, Ikeja to be part of the occasion.

In his welcome address, National Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Mogaji Ibrahim Olaniyan described the South West as pacesetters in Police Community Relations just as he commended the members for their unwavering support to the Police since inception 40 years ago.

He charged members not to relent in their efforts at cementing cordial relationship between the Nigerian Police and the general public even as he appealed to well meaning Nigerians and corporate organisations to support the efforts of the association in providing logistics to the Police.

National Vice Chairman, South West geo-political zone of the association, Prince Sunny Yemi Adenowo expressed happiness that the association has not only come of age but has achieved a lot noting that they will continue to partner the Police in their job of policing all the states in the South West of the country.

In their separate speeches, Lagos State Commissioner of Police Adegoke Fayoade and Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, Martin Nwogor who represented AIG Zone 2, Olatoye Durosimi heaped praises on the association for being good partners in progress recounting the various logistics they’ve provided for the force that helped in enhancing their job.

” We must commend the South West PCRC for supporting the Police with logistics such as vehicles, buildings and others items too numerous to mention which has really been of good help to us.

” Right now, we’re doing a great job as directed by the Inspector General of Police to change the perception of the public about the Police which is yielding result and we’re also reviving our passion at Police Community policing which is too dear to the IGP”, they said

Delivering a lecture with the topic, ‘Mobilizing and Managing Community Resources in a Not for Profit Organisation: Achieving the Ultimus, National Secretary of Committee For the Defence of Human Rights ( CDHR), Comrade Olayinka Folarin described the association as a non profit making one that must be supported financially by all to achieve their goals of helping Police check crime in the society.

He noted that budgetary allocation to the Police is usually inadequate for the enormous job they’re doing which made the support of PCRC very crucial.
The CDHR scribe charged the association to try new initiatives and strategies that will enable them get more financial support which must include corporate organisations and public spirited individuals.

Presenting the award of Patron to Deacon Louis Clark, the National Chairman described him as a man of honour, integrity and a philanthropist who has been of immense help to the association.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the award, Deacon Clark expressed happiness for the recognition which he said is a challenge for him to do more for the Police and humanity.

” I have to give God all the Glory for this award. It was not by my power and being found worthy of this award is something I must give all the Glory to God Almighty.

” You know that PCRC award cannot be bought and when your name is submitted, a lot of things will be put into consideration before you’re finally considered for the award and I believe it was God that ordained it.

“I also want to say that this award means a lot to me because I have been working with the Police for many years now and this award to me is a challenge to do more for the Police and humanity”, he concluded.
