Delta will bounce back to the top at Gateway Games -Oborevwori

Executive Chairman of Delta State Sports Commission, Hon  Omoriode Oborevwori has congratulated the state’s athletes for their impressive performance at the just concluded Niger Delta Sports Festival, saying that though they narrowly missed out on the top spot, but that the state government is proud of them.

Delta State came second behind Bayelsa State in the festival with 41 gold,  20 silver and 32 bronze but Oborevwori believes  they’re worthy champions who should be celebrated.

In the  congratulatory message he personally signed, he said that he’s incredibly proud of the spirit of resilience displayed by the athletes noting that while coming second  might look like a setback, the state will not back down because it has a bigger goal ahead.

He reminded the athletes that the National Sports Festival tagged ‘Gateway 2024’ is in few weeks time and they should leave no stone unturned towards being at their best in Ogun State.

“The National Sports Festival is a few weeks ahead. We have our strengths and weaknesses. We’ll improve on our strength and work on our weak spot.

“We’ve a legacy to uphold, we have dominated in the past and raised champions from the grassroots to greatness as well as carried the pride of our state on the national stage more than once. This time, will be no different and I want to remind us that great teams are not only measured by their victory but how they rise from setbacks.

“This recent experience strengthens our focus and ignite a deeper hunger to conquer what lies ahead. Let’s train harder, stay united and bring back the victory we all know we’re capable of,” concludes the statement.
