Chairman of Nigeria National League, ( NNL) Mr. George Aluo has urged Nigerians not to write off CHAN Eagles; saying that the team will recover from their 0-1 opening game loss to the defending champions, Senegal in the ongoing African Nations Championship being co- hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
“I want Nigerians to keep on supporting the team because I’m confident they’ll come back stronger in their next game against Sudan. They did very well against Teranga Lions of Senegal but were unlucky to concede that late goal, but I believe that it will be a different ball game when they file out against Sudan.
According to Aluo, the country’s league boasts of quality players who can represent the country very well at international tournaments and those presently in the competition organized for players playing their trade in the continent have what it takes to make the country proud”, he stressed
“There’s no doubt that our local league has improved tremendously and there are a lot of good players both in the Premier league and the NNL who can represent the country very well at international competitions.
” Those presently in the CHAN Eagles are good enough for the championship and I believe that not minding the temporary set back, the team will bounce back to reckoning and challenge for the title and that’s why it’s important that Nigerians should not write the team off but keep on supporting them”, he concluded.
The Eagles are billed to slug it out with Sudan on Tuesday in what has been dubbed a make or mar encounter which Nigeria must win to progress in the tournament.
