ANFPU remains the only recognized players union in Nigeria ahead of NFF election

The All Nigeria Football Players Union (ANFPU) has dismissed as mere noise making the moves being made by a group…Project 2022 task force ahead of the NFF election in September.
The group had in a media release on Saturday said they would in the weeks ahead present its candidate to PFAN.
The release stated in part…”Project 2022 task force having officially closed the window for expression of interest in the positions available for the Footballers bloc in the upcoming NFF September 2022 election would soon officially present its score card to PFAN.”
A frontline member of ANFPU, Chikelue Iloenyosi while reacting to the release said Project 2022 were on a wide goose chase.
“ANFPU remains the only recognized players union in the country. We don’t want to make any noise over this. We are going to remain law abiding and play according to the rules. Those who are making noise should show us if they are a registered body recognized by the laws of the land. I don’t understand how an illegal body would be warming up for NFF election. People who lack credibility are talking about how to reposition Nigerian football. As I said, it is not all about making noise. We wait and see how it goes when the chips are down.”
Iloenyosi who recently stepped down as ANFPU’s BOT chairman handing over to USA based Azuka Asomugha stressed that ANFPU would support any credible candidate who shows interest in the NFF presidency.
“ANFPU will only support a candidate who has capacity to deliver irrespective of the constituency the person is coming from.”
