Bauchi wins Aisha Mohammed U-15 boys championship

Host State, Bauchi has emerged winners of the 2nd edition of the YSFON organised Dr. Aisha Mohammed ( Sarauniyar) Bauchi U-15 boys football tournament.
In an entertaining finals, the team defeated Gombe State 4-1 to lift the giant trophy and a cash prize of N200,000. While runners up Gombe went home with a trophy and a cash prize of N100,000
And third placed,Kaduna defeated Jigawa 3-0 to go home with medals and cash prize of N50,000 for their efforts.
Speaking while presenting trophies and medals to the winners, National President of Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), Dr. Yusuf Gawuna who was represented by the National Vice President, North East, Justice Habbi commended the First Lady of Bauchi State for sponsoring the tournament describing her as a full supporter of grassroots football development.
According to him, the First Lady’s sponsorship of the tournament for the second year has given youths opportunity to exhibit their talents as well as led to the discovery of many talented players who will do the country proud in future.
He commended all the participants for their discipline throughout the duration of the tournament even as he challenged wives of other state governors and corporate organisations to emulate what the wife of Bauchi State Governor is doing in grassroots football development.
In his remarks, Bauchi State Commissioner For Sports Hon. Mohammed Sambo Abubakar expressed happiness at the successful conclusion of the tournament, promising that next year’s edition will be more glamorous.
” It’s a thing of joy that this competition came to a successful end and kudos must go to Her Excellency for her passion about grassroots sports development and she has expressed her willingness to continue partnering with YSFON towards talent discovery through the tournament.
” As we have witnessed a successful completion of this year’s edition, we look forward to having a more successful and glamorous 2024 edition which Her Excellency has already made a commitment to see that it holds”, he stated.
It was also announced that winner of the tournament will participate in an invitational tournament next year in Norway and Portugal.
