Ekweremadu Inaugurates Enugu State Athletics Board, Appoints Okorie as Chairman

The Enugu State Commissioner For Sports, Lyold Ike Ekweremadu has inaugurated the state’s athletics board with ex-athlete, Victor Okorie as Chairman and 10 others as members.

In a letter signed by the State’s athletes Coach, Elizabeth Chukwuashi, he congratulated the Chairman and members of the board, wishing them well as they aim to contribute selflessly in the service of the state’s sports and beyond.

Other members of Enugu State Athletics Association board include Elizabeth Chukwuashi, Coach, Onovo Boniface, Henry Nwosu, Eze Justus, Agu Justin and Emeka Benjamin Chukwu.

Others are; Chris Onwuzuruike, Ephrem Ochonma, Ken Onuaguruch and John Ikpechi.

Okorie, the Performance Director of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) in his acceptance speech thanked the Enugu State Sports Commissioner Ike for giving them the opportunity to serve the state and assured that they will try their utmost best not to disappoint the state.

Okorie an ex-hurdler has been working for development of grassroots athletics and other sports in the South East.

His sports development effort has been well noted and now appreciated by the Commissioner who has increased his assignment to include preparing the Enugu State Athletics team for next year’s National Sports festival to be hosted by the state and more.
