Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo has returned back to football action after he featured for his newTurkish club Genclebirligi on Saturday in the Turkish First League.
The former Stoke City of England has been out of action due to an ankle injury but his full return to competitive club football has drawn excitement from fans.
After a season lay off, Etebo marked his presence with 72 minutes of play in their away encounter against Kocaelispor at the Kocaeli Stadium.
The combative midfielder who’s got eyes for goals wore Jersey No. 5 in his club’s first game of the season.
He was later replaced by coach Recepe Karatepe with another midfielder S. Onu.
Though his team went ahead through Sam Gokhan Altiparmak in the 31st minute, they would go behind as the match ended 2-1 in favour of the home team.
His return to active club football by the former Galatasaray star has been seen as positive development as the Super Eagles begin the 2025 African Cup of Nations in September.
Nigeria will face Rwanda, Benin Republic and Libya in Group D of the qualifiers.
