Family of Olaniyan, Victim of Gruesome Murder, Renew Appeal to Gov. Makinde for Justice
The family of Daniel Olaniyan, who suffered a brutal murder at the hands of attackers, has filed another appeal to Oyo State’s Executive Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, asking for his involvement in securing justice for their loved one who has passed away.
This appeal, forcefully articulated by Adebayo Adegbite and Co. from Divine Heights Chambers, carries the title “Re: Gruesome Murder of Mr. Daniel Olaniyan by Sakiru Mustapha, Isiaka Oladigbolu, Muritala Adigun Ifaremi, Ayoade Taiwo Olusola, and Their Cohorts: Appeal for Intervention and Justice,” dated 14th May 2025. It was originally directed to the governor but has not yet produced a favorable outcome.
Another letter via the same counsel has been written and made available to newsmen seeking the intervention of the governor for the state’s Attorney General to remedy what they consider the obvious wrong and injustice done to the deceased.
The family in the letter of reminder noted that “despite the gravity of the allegation and the distressing circumstance surrounding the case, we regret to note that no response has been received from your Excellency’s office more than two months after our letters were submitted.”
“This prolonged silence has not only deepened the agony of the grieving family but has further emboldened the suspects who continue to walk freely in the community. The release of the suspects by the police without charging them to court has created an atmosphere of fear, intimidation and injustice, as the complainants have now become accused in Charge No.: MUY/100C/2025 pending at the Chief Magistrate’s Court, Moniya Ibadan, Oyo State.”
The family hereby respectfully renews their appeal for the governor’s urgent intervention in ensuring that the matter is thoroughly investigated, that those culpable are brought to justice, and that the Olaniyan family is assured that the rule of law still prevails in Oyo State and by his administration.
The family’s hope lies in the belief that justice will ultimately prevail, restoring their faith in the legal system and the protection promised by their government.
They urge the governor to act swiftly, as the ongoing turmoil continues to affect their lives and the community’s trust in law enforcement.
