FASU Games: LASU’s second position, as good as gold – Team Captain

General Team Captain of Lagos State University ( LASU) at the just concluded 1th edition of All Africa University Games, Ladipo Emmanuel Ibukunoluwa has expressed happiness that the University came second in the Games describing it as good as gold.

Lagos State University co- host of the Games won a total 28 gold, 30 silver and 26 bronze to occupy the second position behind defending champions, American University, Cairo, Egypt and Ibukunoluwa believes that their athletes did the entire University Community proud with their performance.
” I am very happy with our performance at the Games. Actually, I would have loved LASU to emerge the overall champion of the Games but coming second is equally good because it shows that we have the talents that can conquer Africa.

” Our athletes showed character in all the sports they participated in and I want to congratulate those who made podium finish and those who for one reason or the other could not record their names on the medals table. I say congratulations to all of them because we’re all champions”, he said.

Ibukunoluwa who also doubles as the University’s Basketball Team Captain commended the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji- Bello and the entire staff and management of LAgos State University for the upgrade of sporting facilities in the University for the Games noting that it will benefit the students immensely.

” Kudos must go to our Vice Chancellor and her management team for the transformation witnessed in all sporting facilities in LASU ahead of the Games. Though FASU Games had ended but the facilities are there for the benefit of the students and we’re very grateful”, he concluded.
