Fidelis Abara bags Obiangwu Community prestigious chieftaincy title

Obiangwu Autonomous Community in Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State has conferred the prestigious chieftaincy title of ‘Nnanyereugo 1 of Obiangwu’ on one of her illustrious sons, Chief Fidelis Uchechukwu Abara in appreciation of his philanthropy and impactful contributions towards the development of the community.

The galaxy of eminent personalities who graced the occasion set the serene community agog as the event turned to a carnival of a sort beginning from the title conferment rites at the Palace of HRH Eze Samuel Ordu of Obiangwu to the reception ceremony at the palatial country home of Chief Abara.

Speaking at the occasion during the installation ceremony, Eze Samuel Ordu described the title recipient as a worthy, large-hearted son of the soil whose immense contributions to the development of Obiangwu cannot be over emphasized.

The monarch noted that Chief Abara’s philanthropy knows no bounds as he has always identified with the entire community, his village-Umuene, the women and youths through economic empowerment, scholarship and sundry support programmes.

In a citation of the celebrant read by Okenze Dominic Nwanna, the community disclosed that Chief Abara attended Community Primary School, Obiangwu, the prestigious Emmanuel College, Owerri and University of La Sorbonne, France.

Okenze Nwanne pointed out that Abara is the CEO/Managing Director of several companies which includes; PSS Aeromarine SARL France, PSS Logistics Services Ltd and Priority Advance Engineering Limited, among others.

The Okenze Obiangwu remarked with emphasis the succour, Chief Abara brought to people of the area during the harsh days of COVID-19 by pioneering distribution of food items to support vulnerable families in the community.

Also speaking, the elder brother to the celebrant, Engr. Albert Barco Abara noted that the award of honour to his brother is welcomed by the famous Abara Family and thanked the community for the gesture.

“He is one of the integral sons of Obiangwu with the vision of bringing development, progress and youth empowerment to our community, and that singled him out for this prestigious title conferment,” he concluded.

In his acceptance speech, Chief F. U. Abara thanked the traditional ruler and Eze-in-Council of his community for the honour done him describing it as the most cherished title because it came from his own kith and kin.

He assured that the conferment of the title on him will spur him to greater action and renewed commitment to service to Obiangwu community and the state at large.

Dignitaries that attended the chieftaincy ceremony include; Dr Cliff Ogbede, Executive Director of South East Development Commission, SEDC, Obiangwu Chiefs and Nzes, members of Old Boys of Emmanuel College Owerri 1985 Set, top security personnel and clergies.
