Okigwe United FC: Imo Sports Commissioner lauds Senator Ibezim

Imo state Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Hon Dan Ogu has commended the Senator representing Imo North at the Red Chambers of the National Assembly, Distinguished Senator Frank Ibezim for supporting football development in Okigwe Senatorial District.

Ogu spoke yesterday at the Okigwe Township Stadium during the screening and recruitment exercise for Okigwe United Football Club, a club which is being midwifed by Senator Ibezim.

The Imo Sports Commissioner urged the players that would emerge from the screening exercise to see themselves as ambassadors of Okigwe Zone and Imo State in general.

He further urged them to maintain a high  level of  discipline by shunning vices such as drugs and banned substances while keying into the youth friendly policy of Governor Hope Uzodimma.

Ogu charged stakeholders to partner with the state government in the efforts to drive sustainable sports development in the interest of the youths who should be kept off the streets.

He stressed that Senator Ibezim’s decision to float a soccer outfit in Okigwe is to say the least laudable, even as he charged him to ensure that the club becomes a force to reckon with in Nigerian football.
