Good planning, open door policy, the driving force behind NBB of C success story – Aboderin
General Secretary of Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C), Remi Aboderin has attributed the recent increase in the number of boxing promoters in the country to the transparent and open door policy adopted by the board.
He told newstsp.com.ng Friday during the just concluded boxing championship promoted by Wiseman Promotions that the body is desirous about the development of professional boxing in the country which made it create an enabling environment for promoters to stage fights aimed at helping boxers improve their form and rankings at the various continental and world boxing bodies.
” The present board of the NBB of C under the able leadership of Dr. Rafiu Oladipo is mindful of the fact that without adequate promoters, the game cannot grow and that’s why we encourage lovers of the game who want to put their money on the sports to promote fights because it will be beneficial to our boxers and the country in general.
” There is no magic in the recent increase in the number of boxing promoters in the country. It’s our transparency and open door policy that is attracting them which led to many professional bouts being organised all over the country and we’ll continue to encourage them because we’ve not gotten their yet.
According to Aboderin who also doubles as President of West African Boxing Union ( WABU,) NBB of C as the authorized sanctioning body of professional boxing in Nigeria will continue to create avenues through which the country’s boxers will not only be rated but given opportunity to have a crack at the Sub- regional, continental and world titles as well as protect the interest of the boxers and their coaches.
” You should understand that we go beyond sanctioning fights to ensure that our fighters records are always upgraded by BoxRec. Apart from this we put the interest of our boxers and their coaches in the front burner and I can tell you that they’re happy with what we’re doing, he concluded.
