Gov Diri Pays Condolence Visit To Kuku Family of Ondo State
Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri on Saturday, February, 21, 2026, paid a condolence visit to the Kuku family of Arogbo community in Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State where he commensorated with them on the passing of their matriarch.Mama Keketobou Jane Kuku, who died at the age of 90.
The visit was carried out immediately after the Local Government congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at Kaiama, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area.
Mama Kuku is fondly remembered for her candour, humility and dedication to community service and welfare. Despite not having the privilege of classroom education, she ensured her children were properly trained and became graduates.
Her strong values and respect for Ijaw tradition are reflected in her children, which include foremost Niger Delta activist, politician, former legislator and former Presidential Adviser on Niger Delta/Chairman, Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr. Kingsley Kemebradigha Kuku.
Speaking during the funeral reception, Gov Diri noted that he paid the condolence visit to the Kuku family and the community on behalf of the government and people of Bayelsa State.
The governor recalled his last visit to Arogbo community in 2013 and noted the changes the community had undergone over the last decade
He stated that in furtherance of his philosophy that no Ijaw community be left behind in terms of development and to encourage its growth, that he has given approval for the construction of a 1000-seater modern pavilion, assuring that the facility would be inaugurated towards the end of 2026.
Senator Diri also used the opportunity of the visit to pay homage to the palace of the Paramount Ruler/Agadagba of Arogbo Ijaw Kingdom, King Doubra Zacchaeus Egbunu, Opukutu III.
