Gov Sule, NFF President Gusau, others to grace NNL 2025/2026 season opener in Lafia

The Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, will be the special guest of honor at the opening match of the Nigeria National League (NNL) 2025/2026 season opener.

The match, scheduled to take place on Saturday 8, November , 2025, at the Lafia City Stadium, will see Lafia-based FC Basira taking on Mighty Jets of Jos in a Conference C encounter.

The leadership of the NNL has expressed gratitude to Governor Sule for accepting to host and honor the Star match.

The Governor will perform the ceremonial kick-off, accompanied by President of the Nigeria Football Federation NFF, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, NFF General Secretary Dr Mohammed Sanusi, NNL Chairman, George Aluo, and other Board Members.

Governor Sule’s entourage will include Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development Hon. Kwanta Yakubu Bohar, Former Chairman of Nasarawa United FC who is now the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Isaac Danladi, Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan, and Nasarawa State Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Salisu Usman Galadima.

The 8,000 capacity Lafia City Stadium is expected to be buzzing with excitement as fans gather to watch the match and cheer on their teams.

The encounter promises to be an exciting display of football.

The winner of the season opener will smile to the bank with the Locker Room Bonus of NNL partners Betpawa.

It is recalled that Betpawa had last month pledged to splash N56,000 each as winning bonus on 20 players and three coaches of NNL teams in a mouth watering N494m sponsorship deal with the league organizers.
