Force Headquarters wins Olu of Mushin Tug of War championship

Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja Saturday emerged winners of maiden Olu of Mushin national outdoor Tug of War championship organised by the Tug of War Federation of Nigeria
In the championship held at the Gen Kenneth Minimah ( Rtd) Boxing Complex of the National, Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, the team showed class in the 640 Kg class against Lagos State Police Command whom they defeated 2-0 to emerge Champion.
Speaking after the energy sapping event, coach of the team Tombiri James expressed happiness with the victory, attributing it to hardwork, dedication, perseverance and commitment.
He was also full of praises to the Federation for organising the championship which he believes will help the athletes improve their skills in the game.
Presenting certificates and medals to the athletes, representative of Oba Fatai Ayinla Aileru 11, Olu of Mushin, Baale of Oke Mushin, Chief Tajudeen Lasisi Faronbi said that the Monarch is happy to be associated with the tournament as it is capable of making Mushin youths more productive just as he promised that subsequent editions will be bigger, more interesting and entertaining.,
In her own remarks, Olori ( Mrs) Folake Akintunde, Olori Baale Matoriland and Prince Yahya Abiola Aileru noted that sports being a unifying factor will help in checking youth restiveness as well as check crimes in the country; saying that they were happy with the turnout of athletes at the competition.
Earlier, in his welcome address, President of Tug of War Federation of Nigeria, Isaac Osaikhiwu Isaac while expressing appreciation to the first class Monarch and other sponsors for partnering with the Federation in promoting the game noted that the future is bright for tug of War in Nigeria and the board is making concerted efforts to organise more of such championships in order to further develop it and attract more youths to the sports,
Highlight of the event was exhibition tournaments organised for some secondary schools in Lagos while certificates were presented to all the participants with the overall winners going home with a certificate and trophy.
