As a strategic means of building a consolidated and futuristic leaders in Imo State, ahead of 2027 political dispensation, Governor Hope Uzodimma has been patriotically advised to Jettison recycled politicians and political leaders so as to infuse new generational, futuristic and visionary leaders into the system for the overall interest of the State and Nigeria at large.
Hon. Obioha Okoroafor, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC and leader of Concerned Imo Political Think Tank , a non governmental grassroots pressure group gave this passionate but patriotic advise on Wednesday in Owerri while addressing Imo State based media executives.
Okoroafor thanked Governor Uzodimma for thinking for the youths in terms of new generational leadership as witnessed in so many fora and assured him of the passionate backings of the group.
”It’s a clarion call for all recycled political leaders either elected or appointed in Imo State to henceforth, take the back seats and give opportunities to new ideas and new beginnings that would now be anchored by younger generations.
”Historical evidence has shown that sometimes, you send people to Abuja as representatives, they only come home during election periods.
“We are passionately appealing to Governor Uzodimma to ensure that such recycled politicians are not given any leadership opportunity in the forthcoming political dispensation.
The group insisted that,”they should be advised to come and support the younger ones so as to help the state in her vision and commitments of building and consolidation of younger, energetic, visionary and futuristic leaders.
”The idea is to totally infuse fresh and new breath to the state leadership system and consolidation initiatives”.
They expressed satisfaction with the qualities of infrastructural developments and capacity empowerment programmes of the Shared Prosperity and 3R administrative mantra government of Senator Hope Uzodimma have done in the state.
The group also condemned totally the idea of seeing political offices as business ventures, a situation where one shifts from one political office to another without any meaningful contributions because they ignorantly feels that they are not accountable to the people.
The group reiterated that, “this is the time, for these recycled politicians to start mentoring the younger ones instead of idling and suffocating the system” they insisted.
