Defending champions, Rivers United of Port Harcourt Monday played out a 2-2 draw with Remo Stars in Match Day 2 of the ongoing Super 6 but the team’s handler, Stanley Eguma believes the score line would have been different if not for two of his players who got injured in the encounter.
Eguma is further worried that the injured players may not be available as they face Lobi today as well as in their last two games of the tournament.
The Pride of Rivers is presently on 4 points after beating Sunshine Stars 1-0 before being forced to a 2-2 draw by Remo Stars in their second game but Eguma believes that the injury to his two key players contributed to their opponents equalizing in the encounter but was quick to add that draw is not a bad result.
” We dominated the game from the first half and we’re coasting home to victory before two of my players got injured and this enabled Remo to bounce back and record a draw.
On the level of their injury, he explained that it will be later ascertained but expressed doubt whether they will be available for their next game which he says might affect the performance of his team.
“There is no doubt that their absence will affect our performance in the remaining matches but not until their injuries are assessed will one know what to do next but as a team is not easy losing two of your key players to injury in a competitive encounter like the Super 6.
