Thumbs up! That was what officials of Heartland FC gave Imo state government and the contractor that handled the Dan Anyiam Stadium floodlight, Monimichelle on Wednesday when Heartland played host to Enyimba in the NPFL.
The match which was delayed for over 30 minutes was one which was eventually concluded under floodlight.
The floodlight which was installed by the nation’s leading stadium facilities construction outfit Monimichelle met international standard to the admiration of everybody inside the refurbished stadium.
Officials of Heartland commended Gov Hope Uzodimma for ensuring that work at the edifice was completed, a situation that saw the team return to base after playing in Okigwe for the whole of last season.
“The fact that we were able to play under floodlight is something that deserves commendation. Our governor, Hope Uzodimma has done well to fix this place…we say a big thank you to him. We also want to thank him for his support to the team,” the club’s GM, Chukwudi Ifeanyi said, even as he noted that the contractor, Monimichelle, the best in the country did a good job.
The players on their part said they were able to express themselves under the floodlight which they rated very high.
Monimichelle is expected to also install a state of the art scoreboard at the arena in the next phase of the Dan Anyiam stadium refurbishment project.
Newstap.com.ng gathered that the contractor has already imported the scoreboard ahead of its installation in the next few weeks.
