The Ardova Handball Premier League 2025 Phase 2 which will be held in Lagos later in the month, has a slight change in date, the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) announced on Thursday.
According to a statement signed by the Secretary General of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) Mrs. Monica Otumala, the second phase of the top tier Handball Premier League proudly sponsored by Ardova PLC which was to commence on November 25 to December 7, 2025 will now hold from November 24, to December 6, 2025.
Mrs Otumala said arrival will be on Monday, November 24, 2025 while matches will commence from Tuesday, November 25, 2025 through to Friday December 5, 2025. Departure is on Saturday, December 6, 2025.
The venues; the NIS Indoor Sports Hall, Surulere and the Rowe Park Sports Center, Yaba, Lagos; remain the same.
While apologizing for the inconveniences that the slight change in date would cause, Mrs. Otumala urged the clubs participating in the league to begin preparation in earnest ahead of the competition which also includes necessary documentary registrations .
“This is to refer you to the above subject matter dated 17th October, 2025 and to inform you that there is a slight change in the 2nd phase of 2025 Ardova Handball Premier League which was earlier scheduled to take place from 25th November – 7th December 2025, in Lagos State, A new date is now 24th November – 6th December 2025” said the Federation scribe
Mrs. Otumala also said that all participating clubs should note that documentary registration of players shall be completed on or before 10th November, 2025 unfailingly.
Safety Shooters and Safety Babes, both owned by the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), are leaders in the male and female categories leagues respectively from the Phase 1 of the Ardova Handball Premier League 2025 which was held in Benin City, Edo State in July 2025.
In the men category, Safety Shooters are on top with 28 points with a massive +91 goal difference while COAS Shooters are in second position with 28 points as well but less goal difference of +50.
Rima Strikers of Sokoto are in third position at the moment with 25 points while defending champion Tojemarine Handball Club, who have 24 points, are in 4th position.
In the women’s category, five times Champions and Defending Champion Safety Babes, who haven’t lost a league match since they lost a dead rubber match on the final day of league in the year 2022 and are gunning for an unprecedented fifth consecutive titles, are comfortably leading the pack with 21 points haven won all their matches so far while Rima Queens of Sokoto are not so far behind in second place with 19 points.
Former champion Plateau Peacocks of Jos are in third with 15 points while old war horse Imo Grasshoppers of Owerri are in 4th position as new bird Soof Omo Ogiefo HBC are in the top 5 on fifth position with 13 points.
All matches will be streamed live on HFN TV and the Ardova PLC platform on Facebook. They will also be streamed live on the YouTube channel of the Handball Federation of Nigeria.
