A community leader in Nnorie, Ngor-Okpala LGA, Chief Sabinus Okere, has debunked media reports of embezzling huge sums of money, meant for a Farm Project in honour of his late brother, Monsignor Theophilus Okere, even as he described the report of his arrest, by the Anti-Fraud Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department of Imo State Police Command, as false, baseless, and orchestration of those who do not mean well for his hard earned integrity.

Briefing Newsmen in his hometown, Chief Okere said he was shocked when he heard about the rumours of his arrest, adding that he had never committed any offence to warrant any form of arrest by Law Enforcement Agency.

He explained that some desperate persons who are aversed to the good name he enjoys in his community, were behind the fake rumours.

He noted that when he honoured the Police invitation, he was asked to return home, as the Police found nothing incriminating to keep him behind bars. He was never charged neither was he indicted  as a Criminal.

Mr Okere said that since the demise of his brother Monsignor Theophilus Okere, he has ensured the smooth running of the Farm Project, and has never attempted to embezzle the proceeds from the Farm.

He advised Media Practitioners to always confirm their stories before going to Press, even as he vowed to use every legal means for redress.

It would be recalled that a certain American Funder and Benefactor of Monsignor Theophilus Memorial Farms LTD, Mr Joseph Francis Funaro, had filled a petition against Mr Okere, to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, alleging that he (Okere), defrauded him of over 75,000 US Dollars and N75 million respectively, in connection with the Farm Project in Ngor-Okpala. But Mr Okere has declared that non of such things happened.
