Tokyo 2020: D’Tigers fail to hold Australia

By George Aluo
D’Tigers failed to start their Tokyo 2020 Olympics campaign on a winning note after losing 84-65 to Australia.
The game was a tight one until the last quarter when the hard fighting Nigerian side crumbled.
The biggest undoing of D’Tigers was not utilizing their free throws. First quarter ended 23:23. The second and third quarter ended 20:17 and 15:12. The D’Tigers eventually allowed Australia to put the game beyond them in the fourth quarter which ended 26:13.
D’Tigers would in their next game face Germany on Wednesday and thereafter slug it out with Italy.
Nigeria’s female basketball team would begin their campaign on Tuesday with an all-important clash against the United States of America (USA). The game comes up 5:40 am Nigerian time.
