Ibadan Football Council boss backs Foreign Coach for Super Eagles, hails Ekong’s leadership
Barrister Rotimi Alli, Chairman of the Ibadan Football Council, has made a strong case for appointing a high-caliber foreign coach to lead the Super Eagles.
Speaking at the Ex-University of Ibadan Footballers Association’s monthly meeting, Alli emphasized the need for a coach with a strong pedigree to manage the team.
“I’m not underrating our local coaches, but with the current mindset of our players, I believe a foreign coach with a proven track record can make a significant impact,” Alli said.
“We need someone who can motivate and guide our players effectively, especially given our challenging situation in the World Cup Qualifiers.”
Alli identified Samson Siasia and Sunday Oliseh as the only two Nigerian coaches capable of managing the team effectively, citing Siasia’s past success and Oliseh’s impressive credentials, despite his temper issues.
The IFC boss also praised William Troost-Ekong, rating him as the Super Eagles’ best player. “Ekong’s leadership qualities, passion, and dedication on the field are unparalleled,” Alli said. “He’s an exceptional player who always gives his all for the team.”
Alli, affectionately known as “Libero” during his playing days, believes that Ekong’s exceptional qualities make him a standout performer for the Super Eagles.
With a foreign coach at the helm, Alli hopes the team can overcome their current challenges and achieve success in the World Cup qualifiers.
