Germany, Italy and Spain delivered standout performances at the second stop of the World Aquatics Open Water Swimming World Cup 2025 in Ibiza, with four thrilling races showcasing the sport’s growing depth and new competitive formats. Spain’s Angela Martinez Guillen delighted the home crowd with a determined victory in the women’s 10km. The Spaniard used a well-timed final sprint to claim her first World Cup gold medal – and the first ever for her country in open water racing.

Germany’s Oliver Klemet and Lea Boy then topped the podiums in the debut of the 3km knockout sprint events, which challenged athletes’ endurance, tactics, and speed across three intense rounds. Klemet and Boy expertly leverage their pool racing backgrounds to triumph over stacked fields.
