Igando Ramadan Cup Ends In Grand Style

The final of the sixteenth edition of Igando Ramadan Cup was held on Sunday March 22, 2026 at Igando after days of hostilities.
Young Stars FC emerged champions after defeating Sterling City FC 2-0 to go home with the four hundred thousand naira (N400,000) prize money for the winners, a giant trophy, medals with packaged two kilogrammes (2kg) of rice for the players and officials.
The second placed team, Sterling City FC went home with two hundred thousand naira (N200,000), a trophy, a set of jersey and rice for all the players and officials.
An own goal in the 21st minute with a 47th minute strike by Taofeek Saheed to double the lead was all Young Stars FC needed to seal victory with both assists provided from the boots of Oscar Oderinde who was introduced in the 19th minute of the match and what a substitution as he proved to be the game changer.
Before the own goal and the eventual second strike that cemented the win for Young Stars FC, Sterling City FC were in total dominance, dictating and controlling the game before the calamitous error.
The competition organised by Prince GAS Global Sports Concept, attracted many well- meaning personalities within Igando/Ikotun LCDA and it’s environs.
Leading the roll call of dignitaries is Mr. Samuel from Digivant micro finance bank, Mr. Olasunkanmi Raheem, Supervisor for sports Igando/Ikotun LCDA, Mr. Sikiru of Pyramid Edge, Otunba Bamidele, MD GT water, Mr. Tosin Abiti, Mr. Moses Ade Banjo, former chairman Lagos state Referee Association and Otunba Kazeem Bakinson, chairman White Stone hotel who supported some of the individual awards financially.
Individual brilliance were also rewarded by the organisers at the competition. The Best Coach of the tournament went to Abdullah Arolagbade of Young Stars FC while Sheun Makinwa of Asemalu FC emerged as the Highest goal scorer.
Happy 2026 Ovieon of IG FC won the Young best player award. The Oldest best player went to Kazeem Obayemi of Asemalu FC, Best goalkeeper was received by Hamed Ajibade of Young Stars FC while the MVP award was won by Oscar Oderinde of Young Stars FC. The Fair play team of the tournament went to Sterling FC while the Best behaved coach was won by Robert Eke of Jossam FC.
The Chief Executive Officer of Prince GAS Global Sports Concept, Prince Gbadamosi Adebola Sulaimon, expressed his appreciation to everyone, their partners, sponsors, teams and fans for their support while also promising a bigger and better tournament next year.
