Igbanke traditional rulers push for inclusion in Anioma State, meet Senator Ned Nwoko
Traditional rulers of Igbanke and leaders of the Ndi Na Asu Bia socio-cultural organization, alongside members of the Igbo unification movement and other indigenous Igbo communities in Edo State, paid a courtesy visit to Senator Ned Nwoko at his residence in Idumuje Ugboko.
According to Century Post, an online publication , the meeting focused on the ongoing efforts for the creation of Anioma State and boundary adjustments that would ensure the full inclusion of Igbo communities from Edo State.
During the meeting, the Igbanke kings reaffirmed their commitment to joining Anioma State, emphasizing that every Igbo community in Edo State should become part of the new state.
“Anioma State is coming, and Igbanke will be an integral part of it. This is not just a plan—it is a commitment that is steadily becoming reality,” one of the traditional rulers told reporters.
Senator Nwoko, who has been a vocal advocate for Igbo unity and the reorganization of states to reflect ethnic and cultural identities, welcomed the delegation and assured them of his continued support.
“The dream of Anioma State is closer than ever. Every effort is being made to ensure that our people, wherever they are, are included in this historic milestone,” he said.
The delegation hailed the visit as a major step forward in the Anioma State campaign, expressing optimism that the coming months would see significant progress in boundary adjustments and legislative approvals. They also called on all Igbo communities in Edo State to unite in support of the Anioma State initiative.
