Ikoyi Club Top 8 Masters Tennis: Mirella, Lolia Kienka clash in women’s final

Number one women’s seed at the ongoing Ikoyi Clun Top Eight Tennis Masters, Mirella Eccli on Thursday qualified to play in the final of the year-ending competition.

Eccli defeated number two seed, Nene Lawani, 6/2, 6/0 to book a final berth against number three seed, Lolia Kienka, who also edged out Effiong Ejehi 6/1, 6/0 in the semis decided yesterday.

The Top 8 Tennis Masters Tournament powered by Megamound in partnership with the tennis section of the Ikoyi Club 1938.

Chairman of the Tennis Section, Diran Famakinwa, said he was impressed with the standard exhibited so far in the tournament.

“It has been a very keen tournament especially because these are the best players competing against one another. The way the top seeds have performed also showed integrity of our team picking the top 8 players,” Famakinwa said.

There will be exhibition matches on Saturday before the final match of the Men’s singles at the centre court of the Ikoyi Club Tennis section
