After trips to Lagos, Jos Heartland players return home stranded

The travails of Heartland FC continues unabated as the club appears condemned to relegation this season.

Players and officials of the team which suffered two very damaging away losses in Lagos and Jos returned to Owerri yesterday only to be stranded as they could not secure accommodation in town.

One of the players sounding very dejected and pissed off told Newstap.com.ng that they slept in the team’s bus after a hotel in town refused to open their gates to the team apparently because they are being owed.

“Everything here is demoralizing I must tell you. After making a seven day trip to Lagos and Jos it is painful to get home only to be stranded and we have a must win game against Remo a team that is pampered by their proprietor Kunle Soname. And some characters running the team would expect us to win,” the player said.

Heartland is at the moment at the very bottom of the NPFL league log as the little progress made when Coach Erasmus Onu stepped in has since evaporated.

Newstap.com.ng even gathered that the coach himself has not been paid a dime as salary since stepping in two months ago even as he moves around town in Keke Napep with no official car attached to him.
