IMC Boss, Okumagba mourns ex-President Buhari

Tributes to the late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, have continued to pour in from the Nigerian sports sector after the former Nigeria leader died in a London hospital at the age of 82 on Sunday, with the Chairman of the Interim Management Committee of the Unified Supporters Club, Prince Vincent Okumagba, expressing his commiseration over the passing of Nigeria’s former President.

A condolence message issued on behalf of IMC and signed by Okumagba described the late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, as a leader who showed immense passion and commitment to the growth of football in Nigeria during his time.
He, however, extended heartfelt sympathies to President Buhari’s family, the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and its president, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, as well as the entire Nigerian sporting community.

Prince Okumagba, while recounting his encounter with the late President, noted that Buhari’s love for sports, especially the game of football, was evident and commendable, saying he will put in a phone call to motivate the players of the Super Eagles prior to the final match.

“It was under the Buhari administration that the Federal Executive Council approved sports as business policy. And when I had the honour of meeting him, I was impressed by his commitment and passion for Nigerian football. May his soul rest in peace,” he added.”
