Imo 2023: I Am On A Mission To Restore Confidence in Governance Says Kemdi Opara

Chief Kemdi Opara, the 2023 gubernatorial flag bearer of Young Progressive Party, YPP in Imo State says his mission in politics is to restore confidence in governance by providing visionary and purposeful leadership through human capital development and world-class infrastructural transformations.

Opara who hails from Obazu Mbieri in Mbaitoli Council area of the State said this in Owerri on Monday shortly after he emerged the winner of his political party’s governorship primary for the scheduled November 11th,2023 INEC conducted governorship election having consensusly though pulled 145 votes out of the 166 delegates that were expected to vote in the option A4 democratic process of the green leaf symbol party as announced by Rt. Hon.Vidiyena Bamaiyi, the political party’s National Secretary and the Party’s 2023 Imo State Gubernatorial Primary Committee, Returning Officer.

According to him”Imo State is unfortunate, in terms of good and purposeful governance. Am divinely driven by innate passion to rebuild Imo State. I have the courage and pedigree. I will invest in human capital development. I will reform Imo State for better, this I have started doing, using Kemdi Opara’s Foundation, an NGO that have touched lives tremendously, through reaching out and helping humanity. YPP will definitely take over Imo State, my mission is divinely driven. It’s God that gives power and it’s the same God that directed me to use YPP as the vehicle for actualizing his mission and vision for Imo State”.

The Governorship hopeful lamented on the level of insecurities bedeviling the State, saying, allowing Governor Hope Uzodimma of APC another 4 years will allegedly mean doom and disaster to the state’s patriotic efforts in addressing insecurities, developmental and transformational agendas, insisting that the days of APC candidate in Imo State Government House are numbered.

He vehemently assured of his administration’s commitment in empowering the youths, informing that 75% of his cabinet members will be constituted by the youths while further describing himself as the servant leader the people were looking for.

Opara further said that God has used the delegates as they endorsed him to deliver Imo State from the alleged shackles of bad governance and vision less leadership, and he has wholeheartedly accepted the challenges of liberating and rebuilding the State no matter the odds.

Speaking, shortly after the rectification of the delegates list from the 27 council areas of the State by the party’s national officers led by Hon. Vidiyane Bamaiyi, the party’s National Secretary, Hon. David Achinaulo, the party’s Chairman, the State Special Delegate Election & Gubernatorial Primaries said, the essence of the gathering is for party members to nominate and present as a family to Imo people a person whom God will use to bring back the State its lost glories.

Achinaulo informed that YPP is a political party known for quality and obedient to the rule of law and due process as recognized by INEC in their previous outings.

He expressed dissatisfaction on the leadership style of the nation since the nascent democracy in 1999 which he decried as being engulfed with lack of accountability, service, transparency and unity of purpose and assured that his party has come to change the narrative for better if given the opportunity to serve.

The chairman likened the Party’s consensus Governorship aspirant as the biblical Nehemiah that rebuilt Judah noting that Imo State to have been destroyed by bad governance, thanking God that their candidate has all it takes to repositioned the State for greater glory.

Earlier, in his address, Hon. Victor Diala, the Imo State Chairman of YPP said that their party believes so much in the hallmarks of quality, purposeful and good leadership noting that the shoe fits their consensus aspirant whom he described as a global player with intellectual prowess and connections.

Diala identified lack of good leadership as the major problem of Imo State in her strides for development and transformation, attributing the State woes to men without address and pedigree who he accused of running the affairs of the State.

He likened Imo State to a failed State considering the level of insecurities being experienced as well as lack of accelerated infrastructural developments and transformations, poverty, lag of rules of law and due process, assuring that Opara is the experienced Chief Engineer destined to rebuild the State.

The Chairman further described Opara as the best among all the candidates contesting to govern to state in 2023 and with divine support and mandate.

Adding his voice, Hon. Vidiyeno Bamaiyi, the National Secretary of YPP and the Returning Officer of the State Gubernatorial Primary Committee informed that the party was formed and registered by INEC in 2017 with a vision and mission for accountability, prudent and transparent governance, with Imo State as their pioneer State chapter.

Bamaiyi said he is certified with the process of the governorship primary election which he affirmed to be in conformity with the party’s guidelines and the nation’s Electoral Act as amended and subsequently issued him the party’s Certificate of Return which authorized him to fly the party’s gubernatorial flag for the Imo State election.

In her vote of thanks, Ambassador Chika Uju, the Party’s vibrant State Woman Leader commended the party leadership for their openness in their activities.

Uju thanked God for the party’s gubernatorial candidate describing him as an administrative icon with divine mandate in the mission of liberating Imo State into quotum developmental leap and solicited for the support of all and sundry in the mission and vision of the party in governing the State.
